Winter Warmer Drive

Winter Warmer Drive

Help the less fortunate fight off the cold

For many of us, Winter brings thoughts of toasted marshmallows, crackling fires, warm heaters, thick socks, fluffy slippers, hot chocolate, rich stews and movie marathons under warm blankets.

For many other people though, Winter brings a sense of dread. Thoughts turn to be outside in the biting cold, falling ill from exposure and being unable to fend for oneself properly. We live in a city of many thousands of homeless people and as Anglo American, we want to show as many of them as possible that we care about the conditions they face in Winter.

We ask that you have a look in your cupboards at home for any warm items you no longer need, have outgrown, or can do without. We also would gratefully welcome any items that you could buy, if there is nothing at home to bring in. We’re taking in items that will help warm someone up – blankets, jerseys, hoodies, coats, gloves, mittens, scarves, beanies and the like. Items for persons of all ages are welcome, and we especially appeal to all parents of little ones to bring in baby/toddler items, as one of the causes we are supporting is a home for abandoned infants and small children.

Bring in your Winter Warmer items and pop them into the specially marked box located in the Vuka Café area. As the box fills up, we will empty it so please bring as much as possible, so that together, we can generate as much warmth as possible.
