Let’s Talk Safety
#3 Enjoy a safe holiday – Travel Safely

Think about it
- Lots of people travel during the school holidays increasing the amount of traffic and likelihood of accidents.
- Drivers must ensure that passengers are properly seated and wearing seatbelts prior to operating the vehicle.
- A passenger in an automobile must act with the same amount of care and caution for her/his own safety.
- Pedestrians must pay attention to traffic and not be distracted by mobile phones, earphones, etc.
- Ensure the vehicle is in a roadworthy condition.
- Do not drive fatigued or be tempted to drink and drive.
- Guard against distractions while driving, obey the speed limit and rules of the road.

Talk about it
- It is easy for fatigue to set in while travelling and socialising during holidays. What can you do to prevent fatigue over this holiday season?

Act on it
- We all must take action to make holiday travel safer. Whether you are the driver or a passenger in a vehicle, we have to make sure the vehicle is roadworthy and that the driver is fit to operate a vehicle and follows the rules.
