Let’s Talk Safety

Let’s Talk Safety

#3 Enjoy a safe holiday – Travel Safely

Think about it

  • Lots of people travel during the school holidays increasing the amount of traffic and likelihood of accidents.
  • Drivers must ensure that passengers are properly seated and wearing seatbelts prior to operating the vehicle.
  • A passenger in an automobile must act with the same amount of care and caution for her/his own safety.
  • Pedestrians must pay attention to traffic and not be distracted by mobile phones, earphones, etc.
  • Ensure the vehicle is in a roadworthy condition.
  • Do not drive fatigued or be tempted to drink and drive.
  • Guard against distractions while driving, obey the speed limit and rules of the road.

Talk about it

  • It is easy for fatigue to set in while travelling and socialising during holidays. What can you do to prevent fatigue over this holiday season?

Act on it

  • We all must take action to make holiday travel safer. Whether you are the driver or a passenger in a vehicle, we have to make sure the vehicle is roadworthy and that the driver is fit to operate a vehicle and follows the rules.
