International Men’s Day Is Coming

International Men’s Day is observed worldwide to celebrate the positive contributions of men to society, their families, and communities. It also aims to raise awareness of men’s wellbeing and highlight positive male role models.

The theme for International Men’s Day 2023 is ‘Zero Male Suicide’. Men, the world over, are the biggest victims of suicide. Moreover, in Africa, the stigma towards men’s mental health has led to even more fatalities. In South Africa, as of 2022, incidences of male suicide were five times higher than suicides committed by women.

The third Sunday of every November is International Men’s Day, but the purpose of Men’s Health Month altogether is to heighten awareness of preventable health issues and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys. This month gives healthcare providers, public policymakers, the media, and individuals an opportunity to encourage men and boys to seek regular medical advice and early treatment for disease and injury. We want to have open and productive discussions around these and other topics relevant to men, and we will be arranging an International Men’s Day webinar, which both men and women are invited to attend.

Look out for more details coming soon.
