Our FutureSmart way of working

The world of work changed dramatically, almost instantly, as the COVID-19 Pandemic took hold. Work from home became the norm for many of us. Now a year on, the changes continue across the world. Fortunately, at Anglo American, our journey to a more sustainable working environment had been planned well in advance.

Our commitment to building a workplace that facilitates productivity, performance and innovation through co-creation, collaboration and teamwork are on track. Our workplace strategy is designed to drive flexibility, agility, and foresight. This requires a new mindset, a new way of doing things. A smarter, more efficient, and effective way of working.

A question that keeps being raised is whether employees will be required to come back into the office full time. Our Flexi-working policy is still being finalised by Head Office, and as soon as this is approved, leaders will be sharing this with their teams.

One thing we will say is, the Hybrid way of working is here to stay. Balancing working from home, on-site, in the office, is the new way forward. To give you an indication of our approach, our space planning has been worked out on a 60/40 split, which means we have accommodated for a maximum capacity of 60% of staff at any one time.
