also marking 20 years since Anglo American first began offering lifesaving anti-retroviral therapy to its employees in Southern Africa.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-fe9cd79 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"fe9cd79\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-f0ae2e1\" data-id=\"f0ae2e1\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3d97f00 pink elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3d97f00\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><b>The theme for this year was Equalize, emphasising the need to work together to end the inequalities related to HIV.<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-854f81c elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"854f81c\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-2e82947\" data-id=\"2e82947\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-972fbac elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"972fbac\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The latest report from UNAIDS, the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS, reveals that during the last two years of Covid-19 and other global crises, progress in tackling the HIV pandemic faltered and support resources reduced significantly, putting millions of lives at risk as a result.<\/p><p>The report also highlights that four decades into the HIV response, inequalities still persist for the most basic services such as testing, treatment, and condoms, and even more so for new technologies. With just eight years left to the 2030 goal of ending AIDS as a global health threat, it is becoming even more vital that economic, social, cultural, and legal inequalities are addressed.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-5652610 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"5652610\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-7b14e18\" data-id=\"7b14e18\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5593659 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5593659\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>A Look at HIV in 2021<\/strong><br \/>Last year, there were more than 38 million people around the world living with HIV, of which:<\/p><ul><li>36.7 million were adults (15 years or older)<\/li><li>1.7 million were children (0 \u2013 14 years)<\/li><li>54% of all people living with HIV were women and girls<\/li><li>28.7 million had access to treatment, which means nearly 10 million people were still waiting treatment<\/li><li>1.5 million people became newly infected and 650,00 people died from AIDS-related illnesses.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-24a854f\" data-id=\"24a854f\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-aa5beb9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"aa5beb9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"199\" height=\"199\" src=\"https:\/\/dev.move-me.co.za\/life-at-oxfordcampus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/ribbon2.jpg\" class=\"attachment-large size-large wp-image-1917\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-b5e6bd0 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"b5e6bd0\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-e3fb54c\" data-id=\"e3fb54c\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-676b2c8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"676b2c8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><b>Tackling Injustice and Inequality<\/b><\/p><p>This year\u2019s Equalize theme is a call for greater action in a number of areas including:<\/p><ul><li>Increasing the availability, quality, and suitability of services, for HIV treatment, testing and prevention, so that everyone is well served<\/li><li>Reforming laws, policies, and practices to tackle the stigma faced by people living with HIV so that everyone is shown respect and is welcomed<\/li><li>Ensuring the sharing of technology to enable equal access to the best HIV science, between communities and between the Global South and North.<\/li><\/ul><p>\u201cWe will only truly win against HIV\/AIDS when everyone, everywhere, has access to healthcare, prevention, and treatment services,\u201d says our Head of Health, Dr. Elton Dorkin.<\/p><p>\u201cKey to this is removing the injustices and inequalities that put vulnerable people at greater risk of becoming infected with HIV and prevent those who need it from getting the lifesaving treatment they need. This emphasis on equality lies at the heart of this year\u2019s World AIDS Day.\u201d<\/p><p><b>What is Anglo American doing to help Equalize?<\/b><\/p><p>Anglo American has been a corporate leader in the fight against HIV\/AIDS for more than 30 years.<\/p><p>In that time, we have demonstrated that investing in HIV prevention, treatment, and care has an immeasurable and positive impact on our employees, communities, and business performance.<\/p><p>One of the defining moments was the decision to roll out anti-retroviral therapy to our employees in Southern Africa in 2002.
